Ghosts of scooters past

Early Allstate (1951-1954)

I've always had a thing for Allstates - always looking for the "right" one has taken me to many places - here are the ones I can remember.

1951 788-100

22

Very rare bike, but totally trashed, too bad. Came out of Missouri I believe.

1952 788-101

22

Thrasher. Never should have sold it. It was pretty perfect. I must have been desperate.

1952 788-101

22

Bought this from Rob in Washington. It was a nice scoot, but it was not the one 4 me.

1952 788-102

22

Sold to Natee in Thailand. He nailed the restorations - nice job Natee!

1952 788-102

22

Late model 1952 with blue paint over original paint. Found in Michigan. Now in Australia.

1952 788-102

22

Pulled this out of Michigan. Cool scooter, but I wanted an earlier, original model.

1952 788-102

125

My 1st handlebar. Traded from my friend Devin 1995. Had to sell for grad school. I cannot believe I sold those bags/horn accessory with it. This is the scooter that started the obsession for me.

1952 788-102

22

Blue - terrible body work. No idea. I bought this site unseen and it was a mess.

1952 788-102

22

Yellow, restored. Bought out of Nevada

1952 788-102

22

I cannot remember much - I think this was the first I found in trying to get a good handlebar back (after selling Devin's for graduate school).

1953 788-103

22

Really nice, amateur restoration. I don't know where it went.

1954 788-104

22

Found this in Florida. It had a poor restoration. I bought it because it had a speedo drive. Steel cowls and mudguard (original gear for 1954 Allstate).

Late Allstate (1955-1965)

These kept falling into my hands, usually as a package when trying to get my hands on the "right" Allstate.

1956 788-94492

125

VA6T - Bought this out of Ohio.

1957 788-94493

125

Red - went to Europe

1957 788-94493

125

Part of a package

1957 788-94493

125

This was a beautiful original. I'm just not a big fan of the VL/Struzzo era. 10/2011. Bought this out of Michigan IIRC.

1959 Allstate VNA

125cc

Total misfit. I loved this thing...all three speeds. This may have been my first scooter - otherwise it was my second. I bought it from Jay - it's how I met the Keele kids.

1963 Allstate

125

Picked up in an estate sale. Bad restoration, nice sidecar. From South Carolina.

1965 Allstate

125

I have little recollection of this bike. Someone else restored it - I got it in a package. Perhaps it came from Michigan, 2010ish.

1966 Allstate Bluebadge

125

Package from Wisconsin

125

1957 150LD, 1958 150LD, 1959 125LD, 195? 125LD, 195? 125LD, 1960 Vespa VNB

1957 VB1

I have little recollection of this scooter. It was complete with lots of shiny parts - no idea where it went. Probably overseas.

1958 GS 150

VS4

Sold this to Roman - maybe it went to Devin after that?

1959 GS 150

15

My first restoration. I heard the girl who bought it crashed it within a few months, somewhere in SF. My third or fourth scooters.

1961 GS/3

15

Sold to John Collier

1961 GS 160 Mk 1

12

Traded the L125 for this from Tom. Sold to Devin. I've always wanted one. Devin killed it on the resto. I gave him an original parts booklet as his prize.

1962 GS 160

160

Traded to Devin, bought from some older guy - forgot his name.

1966 SS 180

180

Sold to Trevor

1966 SS 180

1968 SS 180

Sold or traded to Josh.

1979 P200

200

My very first scooter. I bought it when I was 19? $1,000

1974 Rally 200

200

Original maroon paint. Sold 2013 in central California.

1976 Rally 200

200

No idea why I sold this. Bought out of Kansas with an ET2.

1977 Rally 200

200

This had what I think was an original P200 motor in it. Cool scooter. Sold to Trevor
